Bihar Rajya Sabha Elections: RJD's Loss Certain on Both Seats, NDA Targets Clean Sweep of 5-0

Political activity has intensified in Bihar regarding five vacant Rajya Sabha seats, with NDA expected to win four easily while the competition for the fifth seat becomes interesting.

Political dynamics in Bihar have intensified ahead of the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, where five seats are becoming available. According to current numbers, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is poised to win four of these seats without much difficulty. However, the fight for the fifth seat has sparked keen interest, particularly as the AIMIM has launched sharp attacks on the RJD, indicating shifting allegiances and strategies within the political landscape. Alongside this, discussions within the BJP regarding Bhojpuri star Pawan Singh's candidacy have also added to the excitement, while the Janata Dal United is actively seeking to consolidate its caste-based and social equations in the run-up to the elections.

Each candidate in the Rajya Sabha elections needs a minimum of 41 votes to secure victory. The NDA controls 202 seats in the Bihar Assembly, making four of the Rajya Sabha seats almost guaranteed for them. On the other hand, the Mahagathbandhan, which includes the RJD, Congress, and other parties, has only 35 MLAs, rendering their chance of winning the fifth seat highly unlikely without the support of the AIMIM. This means that the opposition needs five votes from the AIMIM and one from the BSP just to block the NDA's clean sweep, putting immense pressure on the opposition as they navigate these challenging electoral waters.
