Police open investigation after family claims that girl suffered gang rape and became pregnant in Northern MG

The Civil Police of Minas Gerais has initiated an investigation into the alleged gang rape of a 13-year-old girl who reportedly became pregnant as a result of the incident.

The Civil Police of Minas Gerais (PCMG) has launched an inquiry into a serious case of sexual violence involving a 13-year-old girl from Coração de Jesus. The girl's family contacted the police claiming that she was gang-raped by three males—two aged 19 and one aged 15—and that this assault led to her pregnancy. The information was confirmed by PCMG on the 16th of October, highlighting the urgency and sensitivity of the case.

According to the reports submitted to the Military Police, the girl attended a party in January with a friend in the Mocambo community, where she was approached by the three individuals. She was familiar with them, having previously had a relationship with one of the older men. The accounts state that the group took her to a secluded area where the sexual assaults took place. It is particularly alarming that the 15-year-old allegedly threatened the girl, insisting that if she had been with one of them, she would have to be with all three.

This incident raises critical concerns about the safety of minors and the systemic issues related to sexual violence in Brazil. The legal implications of the case are significant, especially regarding the age of consent and the applicable laws surrounding sexual crimes against minors. The public and media attention on this case may also influence local social dynamics and lead to debates on the need for better protections for young people in vulnerable situations.
