A 19-year-old man was arrested after he was reported for stealing a cellphone and assaulting a pedestrian with punches near the bus station in the central region of Capivari, São Paulo, on Sunday afternoon (15). The incident was captured on security cameras, which showed the victim chasing the assailant, who attacked the victim with punches and pushed him to the ground before fleeing on a bicycle. The local Civil Guard confirmed that the suspect confessed to the crime after being apprehended.

According to local authorities, the victim stated that the assailant pretended to be armed and attempted to rob him. When the victim realized there was no weapon, he refused to hand over his cellphone, which led to an altercation where the assailant struck him in the face multiple times, resulting in the victim falling to the ground.
