Welfare Area Pleads: Don't Come to the Hospital Emergency Department Unless It's an Emergency

The Kanta-Häme welfare area is urging residents to visit the hospital's emergency department only in true emergencies due to overcrowding.

The Kanta-Hämeen central hospital’s emergency department in Hämeenlinna is currently experiencing severe congestion, compelling the Kanta-Häme welfare area to issue a request to the public. People are advised to visit the emergency department solely for urgent medical needs, as waiting times may be longer than usual. The hospital will prioritize patients based on the urgency of their conditions, meaning that some individuals may have to wait longer even if they arrived first.

In non-urgent cases, the welfare area recommends contacting local healthcare centers or utilizing digital services available for receiving healthcare guidance. For sudden situations that are not life-threatening, individuals can seek instructions from the Emergency Assistance service. This restructuring aims to manage the flow of patients and ensure that those in critical need receive prompt care.

Additionally, starting Tuesday morning, the emergency services will be relocated to a new facility at Ahvenisto Hospital, marking the closure of the current emergency department at the central hospital. Patients are being informed and assisted in making the transition to the new emergency services location, and the welfare area thanks the public for their patience during this period of adjustment.
