RTVA and Onetoro to share the television broadcast of the April Fair
RTVA and Onetoro reach an agreement to broadcast the April Fair in Seville across various dates in April.
The April Fair, a significant cultural event in Seville, will be broadcast on television through an agreement between RTVA (the public audiovisual network) and Onetoro, a private platform. The broadcasts will take place from April 5 to April 26, showcasing an array of festivities. Notably, the television coverage will include several important events such as the inaugural bullfight on April 5 and other celebrations spread throughout the month, though the rejoneo event will not be included in the broadcasts due to scheduling differences.
José María Garzón, president of Lances de Futuro, the company managing the Maestranza bullring, facilitated this agreement, marking a notable collaboration aimed at promoting traditional Spanish festivities through modern media channels. RTVA will cover seven of the highlighted events, while Onetoro will handle eight broadcasts, ensuring diverse access to the celebrations for viewers. This arrangement reflects a growing trend in Spain to leverage broadcast media for major cultural events, enhancing public engagement with local traditions.
The April Fair, celebrated annually, not only draws local attendees but also attracts international tourists, boosting Seville's profile as a cultural hub. The broadcasting of the event signifies an effort to make the festivities accessible to a broader audience, potentially increasing tourist interest and participation in the future. This collaboration underscores the importance of both public and private sectors in supporting and disseminating Spain’s rich cultural heritage.
