Germans on the move. Record spending, more flights and cruises

A new report highlights that German citizens have significantly increased their spending on vacations and the number of organized trips in 2025.

The German Travel Association (DRV) published a report titled "Numbers and Facts 2025" indicating a remarkable rise in travel-related expenditures by German residents, reaching a record €87.9 billion for multi-day vacations. Concurrently, tour operator revenues increased to €43.4 billion, up from €39.8 billion in the previous year, with organized trips now accounting for nearly half of the tourism market.

Travel agents continue to play a crucial role in the distribution of travel offerings, generating a total of €21 billion in revenue, of which €14.3 billion came from individual clients and €6.7 billion from business travel. In 2025, 57.1 million Germans undertook at least one vacation lasting a minimum of five days, an increase from 56.4 million the previous year, with the percentage of travelers rising slightly to 80.5%.

This increase in travel participation and spending reflects a growing confidence in the tourism market, encouraging more organized trips and indicating a robust revival in the sector post-pandemic. As the travel industry adapts to changing consumer preferences, the continuing importance of travel agencies suggests a promising outlook for personalized travel arrangements in the future.
