Twelve Crimes in Munich: Police Bust Burglary Gang – Hundreds of Thousands of Euros Seized

The Munich police have arrested two members of an alleged Chilean burglary gang responsible for twelve burglaries in the city, making off with a loot valued in the high six figures.

In a recent operation, the Munich police, with the assistance of colleagues from North Rhine-Westphalia, managed to apprehend two members of a suspected Chilean burglary gang. The gang has been accused of carrying out twelve residential burglaries in Munich, leading to the theft of valuables amounting to hundreds of thousands of euros. The ongoing issue of Chilean burglars targeting European countries has prompted local law enforcement to take significant measures in addressing this crime trend.

To combat this rising phenomenon, the Munich police established a dedicated investigation group named "Muesca". This group achieved its first success last autumn when eleven individuals were arrested in connection to similar crimes. The recent identification of the two suspects was linked to two specific cases in Bogenhausen—a completed burglary from January 2025, and a failed attempt from February 2026, highlighting the persistent challenge of such criminal networks operating within the city.

On March 5, during a police operation in Krefeld, authorities discovered that the suspects were also possibly connected to two additional burglaries in Düsseldorf, one of which was completed while the other was an unsuccessful attempt. In a dramatic turn of events, when the police attempted to arrest them, the suspects initially fled in a car and subsequently continued their escape on foot, demonstrating the lengths to which these criminals go to evade capture and underscoring the ongoing threat posed by such organized crime rings.
