Police suspect a woman of defrauding victims out of money with fake health information โ crime damage up to 800,000 euros
A woman in her 40s is suspected of committing numerous frauds and aggravated frauds by deceiving victims with false health information.
Finnish police are investigating a woman in her 40s who is suspected of committing several frauds and aggravated frauds. According to the West Uusimaa police, the suspect misled numerous victims into lending her money using fabricated health-related information. The total estimated financial damage caused by the fraudulent activities is around 800,000 euros, affecting both individuals and companies.
Rikoksen tutkinnanjohtaja, Crime Commissioner Jyrki Kallio, stated that most of the victims belong to the suspect's close acquaintances and social circle, as detailed in the police announcement. The amounts 'borrowed' from private individuals ranged from hundreds of euros to tens of thousands. The fraudulent activities occurred primarily between April and November of last year, indicating a sustained period of deception.
Authorities suspect that the money was transferred to the suspect's own accounts and accounts she managed, ultimately leading to the funds being sent abroad. The pre-investigation has been completed, and the materials have been forwarded for charging decisions, moving the case closer to legal proceedings.
