Junior athlete Gruzdulis-Borovojs has demonstrated remarkable growth and adaptability in his luge career, having been trained at the Murjāņi Sports Gymnasium where he learned independence and responsibility. After several years of competing in doubles, he made the bold decision to shift to individual racing, a change driven by frequent partner switches and challenges in building a stable racing partnership. His faith in his abilities led him to successfully conclude the season and triumph at the Junior World Cup stage held in Sigulda.

Having started his luge journey at the age of seven, Gruzdulis-Borovojs was inspired to take up the sport alongside his older brother, which sparked a deep interest in competing. It was at this young age that he met his first coaches, including six-time Olympic participant Anna Orlova and Olympic champion Vera Zozuļa, who helped shape his skills and passion for the sport. Rather than being motivated purely by speed or adrenaline, Gruzdulis-Borovojs's commitment to the sport has primarily stemmed from a desire for personal development and mastery of the craft.

Looking forward, Gruzdulis-Borovojs aims for consistent progress within the junior ranks and aspires to secure a place among the top six competitors in larger championships.
