The Autotransport Directorate (ATD) of Latvia has proposed to the Public Transport Council an urgent increase in advance payments for regional public transport carriers, addressing the financial strain caused by rising fuel prices. This proposal is a response to concerns over cash flow disruptions due to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, which have escalated fuel prices significantly. The move aims to provide sufficient cash flow for public transport operators to maintain their services and ensure continuity of service amidst rising operational costs.

ATD has coordinated this proposal with the Latvian Passenger Carrier Association (LPPA) to ensure that the needs of regional transport operators are adequately addressed. The advance payment increase is seen as a critical step towards aiding these carriers, allowing them to manage their operations effectively without compromising service delivery.
