Content creator laments return of long BRT queues in Ikorodu
A Lagos-based content creator has expressed frustration over the persistent long queues at the Bus Rapid Transit terminal in Ikorodu, questioning the Lagos State Government's claims about bus availability.
Onyinyechi Nwachukwu, a content creator from Lagos known online as Darkskinned Ella, has raised concerns regarding the long queues at the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) terminal in Elepe, Ikorodu. After previously experiencing assurances from the Lagos State Government about the availability of buses, she took to social media to express her disappointment when she encountered a lengthy wait at the terminal. In a video shared online, she captures a crowded scene, illustrating the renewed struggle of commuters in the area on a Monday morning, typically known for its busyness.
In her social media post, Nwachukwu highlighted her early arrival to the terminal at 6 a.m., only to find that, half an hour later, commuters were still left stranded without adequate bus service. She questioned the effectiveness of the buses that were reportedly deployed earlier in the week, indicating that their presence might have been temporary or insufficient to meet passenger demands. Her frustrations resonate with many commuters who commonly face similar challenges with public transport in Lagos, particularly during peak hours.
This situation underscores ongoing issues related to public transportation in Lagos, a city already grappling with traffic congestion and inadequate transit options. Nwachukwu’s viral post not only draws attention to the hardships faced by everyday commuters but also calls into question the accountability of government claims regarding public service improvement. As demands for reliable transportation continue to grow, the effectiveness of the current measures by state authorities is being rightfully scrutinized, especially in light of public dissatisfaction that can impact broader support for government initiatives in transport infrastructure.
