Lagos State has experienced significant flooding due to heavy rainfall, particularly affecting the Lekki area. The flooding has caused substantial traffic gridlock on major roads such as Chisco Elegushi and around the Elf neighborhood, with incidents of vehicles stranded in the water. A video shared on social media documented the situation, raising concerns among residents about the severity of the flooding that reportedly occurred within just half an hour of rainfall.

In response to the situation, Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, addressed the public through X, emphasizing that the flooding is a short-term occurrence. He reassured residents that they should not panic, explaining that government teams are actively monitoring the water levels and ensuring that normal conditions will soon return as the tide recedes. Wahab’s comments aim to alleviate fears about the flooding's permanence and the state’s emergency preparedness.
