This accomplishment not only secured her victory in the race but also represented a significant improvement of ten minutes over the previous Finnish record, which stood at 3:23:46 and was held by Noora Honkala since 2024.
Lipiäinen, who already holds Finnish records in multiple ultramarathon categories, including the 100 kilometers, 100 miles, and both the 6-hour and 12-hour races, continues to solidify her reputation as one of the country's top ultrarunners. Earlier in 2023, she set a world record for the 12-hour race by running an astounding 153.6 kilometers. Originally from Siilinjärvi, Lipiäinen resides in Lappeenranta where she works as a postdoctoral researcher at LUT University.
