Tanzania-Kenya Border Is Named a Model in Africa, With Its Demarcation Works Hitting 75%

Tanzania's Parliamentary Standing Committee has reported that the demarcation of the Tanzania-Kenya border is 75% complete, highlighting its significance as a model in Africa.

The Tanzanian Parliamentary Standing Committee on Lands, Natural Resources and Tourism has recently praised the progress made in the demarcation of the Tanzania-Kenya border, with 564 out of 758 kilometers marked, equating to 75% completion. During a visit to the Holili area in Rombo District, committee chairperson Timotheo Mzava acknowledged the complexities involved in marking international boundaries and commended the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Human Settlements Development for the substantial progress achieved.

Mzava emphasized that the border markers are prominently visible along various sections of the boundary, demonstrating the effectiveness of the demarcation efforts thus far. He pointed out that this initiative not only facilitates better management of land resources but also reinforces the bilateral relations between Tanzania and Kenya. The successful marking of international borders can serve as a model for similar efforts across the continent, promoting regional stability and cooperation.

Despite the commendation, the committee urged for the completion of the remaining border demarcation work to be expedited. This call reflects the urgency for both countries to finalize this critical aspect of their bilateral relations, ensuring there are no disputes as they work towards sustaining peace and fostering development in the region.
