Risk of Cross Voting in Bihar: Will Kushwaha's Trial by Fire Ruin the Friendship between Owaisi and Tejashwi for Congress?
The election for five Rajya Sabha seats in Bihar has become a challenging affair, especially for NDA's candidate Upendra Kushwaha, as political tensions rise due to Congress party members being unreachable.
In Bihar, the contest for five Rajya Sabha seats has intensified, with six candidates vying for victory. While the NDA is confident of winning four seats, the fifth seat poses significant challenges for the NDA candidate Upendra Kushwaha. The political landscape is complicated further by a recent endorsement from all five legislators of Asaduddin Owaisi's party, which lends support to RJD candidate Amarendra Dhari Singh. This unexpected alliance has resulted in increased tension within the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance), especially with four Congress legislators being 'not reachable' ahead of important voting, leaving the alliance in a precarious position.
Voting for the Rajya Sabha elections commenced and will continue until 4 PM, with results expected by 5 PM. Based on the current legislative numbers, Nitin Nabin and Shivesh Kumar from the BJP, as well as Nitish Kumar and Ramnath Thakur from JDU, are anticipated to secure their victories easily. Subsequently, the remaining 38 NDA legislators will likely back Upendra Kushwaha for the fifth candidate; however, Kushwaha needs 41 votes to ensure his win. His path to victory heavily relies on attracting support from three opposition legislators, which adds another layer of complexity to the already tense political scenario in Bihar.
