ADC lacks structure to challenge APC – Kogi PDP aspirant

A Kogi State House of Assembly aspirant argues that the African Democratic Congress lacks the necessary structure to effectively oppose the ruling All Progressives Congress in the upcoming elections.

Michael Idoko, an aspirant for the Olamaboro Constituency in Kogi State, has publicly stated that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is ill-equipped to challenge the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections. He emphasized that the ADC does not possess the political structure or grassroots support needed to mount a serious challenge against well-established parties like the APC. Idoko's comments mark a significant observation regarding the current political landscape in Nigeria, wherein he affirms that only a strong, organized opposition has any chance of success in the forthcoming election.

As a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Idoko contrasts his party's capabilities with those of smaller opposition movements such as the ADC. He firmly believes that the PDP remains the sole viable opposition force capable of contesting effectively against the APC and its candidates, including President Bola Tinubu. Idoko's warning to Nigerians is clear: shunning the PDP for less established parties could lead to a mishmash of political outcomes that may favor the ruling party, further entrenching its dominance in the political arena.

These statements come at a time when Nigeria is gearing up for a major electoral cycle, where multiple parties are vying for influence and power. The importance of political structures and networks in establishing credibility and winning elections cannot be overstated. Thus, Idoko's perspective resonates with many who believe in the necessity of political organization and the power dynamics that will guide the electoral process in 2027.
