More than 40,000 soldiers are deployed in the country for operations within the framework of the state of emergency and curfew

Ecuador has deployed over 40,000 military personnel nationwide as part of a state of emergency and curfew aimed at maintaining internal security.

In a decisive move to bolster internal security, Ecuador has deployed over 40,000 military personnel across the nation under a state of emergency and curfew. This operation commenced shortly before the curfew took effect in the provinces of Guayas, Los Ríos, El Oro, and Santo Domingo, indicating the government's urgent response to escalated security concerns in these areas. Specifically, the city of Durán in Guayas received a squad of around 700 soldiers who will patrol critical roads and areas deemed most problematic.

General Mauro Bedoya, commander of the Air and Space Operations Command, announced that these military operations aim to ensure compliance with the government's security measures, highlighting the extensive military presence across the country. Currently, out of the total military contingent, approximately 8,000 personnel are stationed in the Guayas region, suggesting a focused effort in areas with heightened security risks. The involvement of the armed forces reflects the government’s commitment to restoring order and safety in areas affected by violence and other security issues.

The deployment of such a large number of soldiers indicates the severity of the situation Ecuador is facing regarding public safety. It not only involves immediate military action but also showcases the government's strategy to reinforce law enforcement by utilizing military resources during a critical period. This operation may set a precedent for future governmental responses to security challenges in Ecuador, raising questions about the balance between military intervention and civil liberties.
