Gaza: 8 police officers and personnel martyred in Israeli bombardment

Eight Palestinian police officers were killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting their vehicle in Gaza's central region on Sunday.

On Sunday, the Ministry of Interior in Gaza reported that eight Palestinian police officers were killed as a result of an Israeli airstrike that targeted their vehicle near the town of Al-Zawayda in central Gaza. Among those who died was Colonel Iyad Abu Youssef, the director of intervention police in the central governorate. The airstrike, carried out by Israeli aircraft, struck their vehicle on Salah al-Din Street near the entrance of Al-Zawayda, reflecting the ongoing violence in the region amid the current hostilities.

Medical sources indicated that the bodies of the eight Palestinians were received at hospitals following the airstrike. It was noted that the targeted area is outside the control of the Israeli army, which continues to occupy over 50% of the Gaza Strip's territory. The Ministry stated that since the start of hostilities, Israeli forces have intentionally targeted police officers and facilities in Gaza as part of a strategy to create chaos and disruption in the area.

According to the latest statistics from the Government Media Office in Gaza, more than 787 individuals from security and police agencies, as well as aid security personnel, have been killed since the onset of the current conflict. This escalation and targeted killings illustrate the severe impact of the confrontation, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis and raising concerns regarding law and order in the region, further complicating the pursuit of peace and stability.
