The Election Commission of India has announced the dates for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, stating that all 234 assembly seats in the state will see voting on April 23 in a single phase. Following the elections, the counting of votes will occur on May 4, with results expected shortly thereafter. This follows the precedent set in the 2021 assembly elections when voting also took place in a single phase. In that previous election, the alliance led by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) achieved a significant victory, securing 157 out of the 234 seats.
