The Ministry of Labor Public Prosecutor's Office (MPT) has taken action in response to 11 reported cases of child labor in the municipality of Rio Claro, São Paulo. This notification underscores the importance of raising awareness about the implications and dangers of child labor. The MPT has recommended that the local government engage in the 'MPT na Escola' program, focused on educating parents, teachers, and students about the risks and adverse effects associated with child labor, aiming to foster a community-wide understanding and prevention efforts.

Larissa Bergamo Zanardo, the coordinator of Basic Social Protection, emphasized in a recent interview with EPTV, a Globo affiliate, that the Municipal Education Department is currently reviewing the MPT's notification. She indicated the municipality's commitment to assist in addressing these cases, highlighting a local initiative to promote awareness and ensure the protection of children from exploitative work conditions. The intervention aims to improve community engagement in preventing child labor and to provide resources for affected families.

In addition to the immediate cases of child labor, Zanardo pointed out a concerning connection between children and adolescents involved in drug trafficking, likening it to a form of child labor. To combat these issues effectively, families affected by these cases will receive psychological support and social assistance to integrate them into broader support programs. This comprehensive approach seeks not only to address current instances of child labor but also to tackle the systemic issues that contribute to it, ensuring a more significant impact on the community's well-being.
