The animal shelter 'Paw to Paw' in Jelgava Municipality is preparing for potential evacuation due to imminent flooding that threatens its operations.
In Jelgava Municipality, the animal shelter 'Paw to Paw' is facing a significant threat from rising floodwaters, which could necessitate the evacuation of up to 80 dogs. Unlike previous years when the shelter opened its doors to animals displaced by floods, this year the staff is preparing to evacuate their own residents due to the severe weather conditions that have made access roads difficult to navigate. Shelter director Gundega Bidere expressed concerns that key routes might soon be completely cut off, hampering any potential rescue operations and placing the dogs at risk.
