Agents from the city of Rio de Janeiro rescued a small dog that had been trapped in a parked car for three days in Copacabana.

On Saturday morning, agents from the City Hall of Rio de Janeiro rescued a small dog that had been locked inside a car for three days, according to local residents. The dog was found in a vehicle parked along Avenida Atlântica in Copacabana, which had been stationary since Thursday. It was only on Saturday that passersby noticed the dog scratching at the backseat windows, signaling for help.

Concerned neighbors alerted city councilor Luiz Ramos Filho, who is part of the Animal Defense Commission of the Municipal Chamber. He then reached out to the Municipal Secretary for the Protection and Defense of Animals. With the assistance of the Municipal Secretary of Public Order (Seop), the team managed to open the vehicle and safely rescue the dog. The rescue occurred on a warm Saturday in Rio, with temperatures reaching nearly 30°C.

After the rescue, agents provided water to the dog and took her to the 12th Police Department in Copacabana, where the incident was formally reported. Subsequently, she was transferred to the Jorge Vaitsman Veterinary Hospital for further care. This incident highlights the importance of vigilance and prompt response in protecting animals left unattended in vehicles, especially under extreme weather conditions.
