Ebonyi governor pledges scholarships for 187 Ebonyi ICT university students
The Governor of Ebonyi State has committed to providing scholarships to 187 students of the Ebonyi State University of Information and Communication Technology if they cannot access federal loans.
Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has announced a significant initiative to support the 187 pioneer students of the new Ebonyi State University of Information and Communication Technology during their matriculation ceremony. He has pledged to award scholarships to these students should they be unable to secure funding through the Federal Government-backed Nigeria Education Loan Fund. This move aims to ensure that these students receive adequate support throughout their academic careers at the institution.
During the matriculation ceremony, which took place at the university's permanent site in Oferekpe, Nwifuru emphasized the historical importance of the event, calling it a landmark occasion that would resonate for generations. He expressed his commitment to fostering educational development in the state and highlighted the collaborative efforts of local leaders, including the previous administration under former governor David Nweze Umahi, who envisioned the establishment of the university. Such initiatives underscore the government's role in enhancing access to education and promoting academic excellence in the region.
The scholarships are designed not only to alleviate the financial burden on students but also to inspire them to excel academically as they embark on this new educational journey. By supporting these pioneer students, the Ebonyi State government hopes to cultivate a skilled workforce that can contribute to the state's future development, therefore marking a step forward in the educational landscape of the region.
