Shock in autumn, sure three points in spring. Slavia managed the match against Zlín this time
Slavia Prague secured a 3:1 victory against Zlín, maintaining their unbeaten record in the Czech first league and leading the table by 13 points over Sparta.
In the 26th round of the Czech first league, Slavia Prague triumphed over Zlín with a score of 3:1, reinforcing their position as titleholders and extending their lead on the table. The win keeps them unbeaten in the season, with an impressive 13-point gap ahead of second-placed Sparta, who are yet to play their weekend match against Slovácko.
The match kicked off with Zlín surprising many by applying pressure and forcing Slavia into a defensive stance early on. Despite their initial activity, Zlín failed to convert their corner kicks and offensive pushes into goals, which allowed Slavia to gradually find their rhythm. Štěpán Chaloupek struck first for Slavia in the 12th minute, utilizing a lapse in Zlín's defense to score from outside the penalty area. It marked Chaloupek's fourth goal of the league season.
As the game progressed, Slavia took control and further extended their lead with goals from Lukáš Provod and substitute Mojmír Chytil. Zlín managed to pull one back during stoppage time through Jakub Černín, but it was too late to alter the outcome of the match. With this result, Zlín has now faced back-to-back defeats, leaving them in ninth place in the standings and raising questions about their ability to stay in the league as they navigate the remainder of the season.
