Ukraine Expands Drone Strike Zone to 150 Kilometers from the Front Line
Ukraine has significantly extended the operational zone of its drones, now striking targets up to 150 kilometers from the front lines, in a deliberate strategy to disrupt Russian logistics and support infrastructure.
In recent weeks, Ukraine has markedly extended the area beyond its front line where drones are operational, with strikes now being conducted as far as 150 kilometers away from the contact line, compared to around 50 kilometers previously. This information comes from experts and Ukrainian military officials, as reported by 'The Telegraph'. This expansion is a deliberate strategy aimed at separating Russian frontline units from their logistical centers and support infrastructure.
The continuous and meticulously planned drone campaign has tripled the zone where Russian forces are at constant risk. Previously secure rear areas have turned into 'death zones'. The intention behind this strategy is to make rapid troop and equipment movements nearly impossible for Russian forces. A Ukrainian soldier described the current situation by saying, 'Drones constantly monitor everything and continuously attack. It slows them down, disrupts their usual rhythm, and gives us control over the battlefield.'
Institute for the Study of War (ISW) expert Katerina Stepanenko notes that this is a significant development in the ongoing conflict, highlighting the evolving tactics of Ukraine in the warfare landscape. The implications of this strategy could alter the dynamics of engagements in the region, as Russian forces may find it increasingly challenging to maintain supply lines and coordinate moving their troops effectively within the broader conflict.
