Lufthansa is flying normally again after two days of strikes

Lufthansa flights returned to normal operations following a two-day pilot strike that primarily affected routes from Frankfurt and Munich.

Lufthansa has resumed normal flight operations after a two-day strike by its pilots. The strike affected numerous flights, especially those operating from the key airports of Frankfurt and Munich, and also impacted departures from Norway. Over 550 of the approximately 700 scheduled flights were canceled, according to the pilots' union Vereinigung Cockpit, which hailed the strike as largely successful.

The strike was prompted by disputes regarding wage levels at Lufthansa's subsidiary CityLine and pension rights for pilots in both Lufthansa Cargo and the main Lufthansa airline. The conflict highlights ongoing discussions within the aviation industry concerning fair compensation and benefits for airline staff, reflecting broader economic concerns in the sector.

As operations resume, Lufthansa aims to restore confidence among travelers and mitigate disruption caused by the strike. This incident serves as a reminder of the fragility of airline operations and the potential impact of labor disputes on travel plans, which can resonate throughout the European flight network.
