A Córdoba court recently sentenced 12 people associated with the OneCoin cryptocurrency fraud, marking a significant legal outcome against a global Ponzi scheme that has defrauded victims of approximately $4.5 billion. The case centers around Ruja Ignatova, a Bulgarian entrepreneur who has been evading law enforcement for nearly ten years and is one of the FBI's most wanted fugitives. The sentences range from three to nine years of imprisonment, reflecting the severity of their involvement in the fraudulent operations.

The court's decision, made by the 10th Chamber of Criminal Affairs in Córdoba, came after eleven of the accused confessed to their roles in the scam and agreed to pay civil reparations to the plaintiffs. In total, the convicted individuals have been ordered to compensate the victims with around 42 million pesos and $52,000 collectively, a small fraction of the money lost in the scheme.
