The verdict in another 'Ball' case has been announced: long years in prison and confiscated assets worth 7.3 million euros

The court convicted 19 individuals and sentenced them to imprisonment for drug-related crimes and organized crime activities.

On March 5, a verdict was announced where a court found 19 individuals guilty of serious and very serious crimes related to organized crime. The sentences varied from 10 to 14 years of imprisonment, along with a punitive measure where the court ordered the confiscation of assets valued at 7,355,086 euros. This case is part of a broader crackdown on organized crime related to drug trafficking in Lithuania.

The crimes for which the defendants were found guilty involved the illegal possession of large quantities of psychotropic and narcotic substances, specifically methamphetamine and cocaine, and the international smuggling of these drugs. The members of the criminal organizations were confirmed to have acquired, transported, stored, and sold at least 1,800 kg of methamphetamine and over 123 kg of cocaine. This indicates a significant scale of operations, with drugs being trafficked to various countries, including Norway, the Russian Federation, Ukraine, and Ireland.

This court ruling underscores the ongoing battle against drug-related organized crime in Lithuania and the broader region, as authorities continue to dismantle such networks. The lengthy prison sentences and substantial confiscation symbolize a severe judicial response to combat drug trafficking and protect public safety. The ramifications of this case will likely extend beyond the courtroom, affecting international drug trade dynamics in Eastern Europe.
