These celebrities' real names were lost on Finns - would you have known?
A recent quiz revealed that many Finns only know celebrities by their first names or stage names, challenging participants to identify the last names of well-known figures.
A quiz published by Me Naiset tested how many Finns knew the real last names of popular celebrities, as many are only recognized by their first names or established stage names. Over 100,000 people participated in the quiz, highlighting a common trend in Finland where only the initials or first names of public figures are widely known.
Participants in the quiz were tasked with selecting the correct last names from given options, and results showed that only 18% managed to score perfectly, with many failing on multiple questions. The quiz not only engaged the public but also served as a fun reminder of the identities behind familiar faces, making the task both enjoyable and revealing of societal trends in celebrity culture.
Among the most recognized, rapper Elastinen's real name, Kimmo Laiho, was known by 90% of those surveyed, followed closely by Michael Monroe (Matti Fagerholm). The interest from younger audiences and newer celebrity figures, like the host duo Viki and Kรถpi, shows the evolving landscape of what it means to be a public figure in Finland, as they too are quickly becoming recognized names.
