Tree falls, hits power line and blocks avenue in Boa Vista
A fallen tree in Boa Vista caused power line damage and blocked a major avenue, but there were no reported injuries.
On Friday, a tree fell in the South Zone of Boa Vista, Brazil, at the intersection of Surumu and Getúlio Vargas Avenues, impacting power lines and obstructing traffic. This incident, occurring around 8:40 PM, did not result in any injuries. The fallen trunk blocked the street and also struck the front of a property nearby.
The military firefighters responded promptly to the scene, where they discovered that the fallen tree had come to rest on the sidewalk, disrupting the electrical wiring in the area. Personnel from Roraima Energia, the utility company in charge of the region's power supply, arrived to perform a partial shutdown of the electrical grid, ensuring that safety protocols were observed while managing the situation.
After securing the area, the firefighters used chainsaws and machetes to remove the tree and clear the branches from the roadways. Local residents were advised to clean the site properly and to report to the municipal authorities, who are responsible for urban maintenance. The swift actions of the emergency services helped minimize disruption and ensured community safety following the accident.
