Store facade collapses and falls on motorcycles and car during rain in Boa Vista
A store facade in Boa Vista collapsed during a rainstorm, damaging several motorcycles and a car but causing no injuries.
On the afternoon of Friday the 13th, a store facade in the São Vicente neighborhood of Boa Vista collapsed under the heavy rain. The facade, made of metal roofing, fell on approximately ten motorcycles and one car parked nearby. Fortunately, the incident resulted in only material damages, with no reported injuries.
The store's owner indicated that the facade was under renovation and that the accumulation of water contributed to its collapse. All vehicles involved belonged to employees at the store, and an insurance claim has been filed to cover the damages incurred. Emergency measures were quickly taken, and a forklift was employed to lift the fallen structure and begin the process of removing the vehicles trapped beneath the metal roofs by around 3:30 PM.
In light of the heavy rainfall affecting the region, the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) had issued a warning for rain, potentially indicating broader concerns for public safety during such weather conditions. This incident highlights the importance of maintaining structural integrity, especially during adverse weather, as it can pose risks not only to property but also to human safety in more severe cases.
