Frost is possible in some areas of Latvia on Sunday night
A forecast suggests that some eastern regions of Latvia may experience minor frost on the night of March 15.
The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre has issued a forecast indicating that minor frost may occur in some eastern regions of Latvia on the night of March 15. The weather for that night is expected to be mostly clear with a small amount of clouds, while light to moderate winds will blow from the south and southeast. Temperatures are projected to drop to between -1 and +4 degrees Celsius, with the coolest conditions anticipated in the eastern part of the country.
In the capital Riga, the night is expected to be dry with few clouds, and temperatures will fall to around +3 to +5 degrees Celsius. The following day, Sunday, will start with a small amount of cloud cover, which will increase later in the day, leading to light rain in some areas of Kurzeme in the afternoon. The temperature for Sunday is predicted to reach between +8 and +13 degrees Celsius, accompanied by light to moderate southerly winds.
Notably, on Saturday, March 14, all 25 observation stations in Latvia broke the maximum temperature record, with the highest temperature reaching +17.1 degrees Celsius in Liepaja. This spike in temperatures suggests a notable warm trend before the expected drop during the night into Sunday, highlighting the unpredictable nature of spring weather in Latvia.
