Group urges women, youths to take active role in politics
A Nigerian organization has called for increased political participation from women and youths ahead of the 2027 general elections, emphasizing its importance for democracy.
The Initiative for a Better and Brighter Nigeria has made a strong appeal for women and youths in Nigeria to engage more actively in the political process, noting that their involvement is crucial for the strengthening of democracy as the nation approaches the 2027 general elections. This call was made during a one-day political sensitization program held in Sokoto, which focused on the theme 'Women and Youth Involvement in Politics: A Panacea for Democratic Growth.' It highlights the need for these groups to take initiative and actively participate in shaping the political landscape of the country.
During the event, Ibrahim Wakili, the chairman of the IBBN, expressed that the organization aims to enlighten the public and motivate citizens to make informed political choices in the lead-up to the elections. He pointed out that women and youths represent a substantial portion of Nigeria's population and their active involvement is essential for the future of democracy in the country. Wakili further emphasized that the political mobilization of these groups could lead to significant positive changes in governance and democratic processes.
The initiative reflects a broader movement within Nigeria to encourage greater inclusivity in politics, particularly from segments of society that have historically been marginalized in political discourse. With the 2027 elections on the horizon, these efforts aim to create a more informed electorate ready to shape the countryβs future, underscoring the imperative role women and youths play in achieving democratic growth and stability.
