Mobilisation, not protests, key to 2027 victory — YPP presidential aspirant
Jide Filani, a presidential aspirant from the Young Progressives Party in Nigeria, argues that mobilizing voters is more crucial than protests for success in the upcoming 2027 elections.
Jide Filani, a presidential hopeful from the Young Progressives Party (YPP), has recently expressed his views on what will be essential for a successful outcome in the Nigerian elections of 2027. He dismissed the ongoing protests against the new Electoral Act, noting that they lack significance. Instead, he emphasized the need for strategic voter mobilization to ensure that a large number of Nigerians participate in the electoral process, casting their votes for the changes they want to see in the country.
During his consultative visit to the Inter-Party Advisory Council secretariat in Ogun State, Filani highlighted the importance of building a broad-based coalition for the upcoming elections. He believes that focusing on participation and voter turnout is much more valuable than engaging in protests or seeking immediate changes to the Electoral Act. According to him, the future of Nigeria’s democracy hinges on political actors' ability to mobilize citizens effectively and create a participatory environment that reduces voter apathy among the electorate.
Filani’s remarks come at a time when the political landscape in Nigeria is charged with discussions around electoral reforms and civic participation. By prioritizing voter engagement over disruptive protests, he aims to shift the narrative towards constructive political action that empowers citizens. His stance reflects a broader strategy that may resonate with many Nigerians looking for tangible methods to influence the political process ahead of the essential elections in 2027.
