Five members of the same family, including four children aged between 8 and 14, were hospitalized on Thursday in Ecoporanga, located in the Northwest region of Espírito Santo, after consuming soda bought at a local bar. The family started experiencing symptoms of intoxication shortly after ingestion, with the eldest girl being the first to fall ill, followed by her younger cousins. While one eleven-year-old girl was released from the hospital to recover at home, the other family members remain under medical care.

The local military police responded to the incident, coordinating efforts with the Child Protective Service as authorities assessed the situation surrounding the family's illness. The soda bottle, which was reportedly sealed when purchased, has been confiscated for forensic examination to determine the cause of the poisoning. The paternal grandmother, Maria Sandra de Oliveira, made the purchase and expressed her shock at the sudden health crisis affecting her family.
