Kokubo Aoi and two other shogi players earned their promotion to fourth dan after a successful final round in the Shogi Promotion Association's third dan league.
The Shogi Promotion Association held the final round of its 78th third dan league on the 14th of October at the Shogi Hall in Shibuya, Tokyo. During this round, three players: Kokubo Aoi (20 years old) with a record of 15 wins and 3 losses, Kawamura Yuto (27 years old) with 14 wins and 4 losses, and Furui Jodai (21 years old) also with 14 wins and 4 losses, managed to secure their promotion to the rank of fourth dan. This promotion will take effect from April 1. The third dan league is a crucial period for aspiring shogi players, where the top performers can qualify for higher ranks based on their match outcomes. Only the top two players generally earn promotion to the fourth dan after battling through 18 matches per player over a span of six months.
