Two police applicants arrested with forged NECO results in Bauchi
Two police applicants were arrested in Bauchi for possessing forged NECO examination results during a recruitment screening process.
The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended two candidates attempting to join the police force for allegedly presenting forged certificates from the National Examinations Council (NECO). This incident occurred at the Police Training School in Bauchi as part of a broader recruitment exercise where a total of 403 hopefuls were screened, including both those seeking general duty and specialized positions.
Nafiu Habib, the Police Public Relations Officer, detailed that the recruitment screening was overseen by A.Y. Dickson, who managed the selection team. Among the candidates, two individuals sharing the name Yusuf Usman were found to be conspiring together throughout the screening, leading to their discovery when their fraudulent documents were examined. The revelation of their forged results raises serious concerns about the integrity of the recruitment process, emphasizing the need for stringent verification measures.
This incident not only highlights the ongoing issues of academic dishonesty but also underscores the challenges within the police recruitment framework in Nigeria, where candidates may resort to deceitful methods in pursuit of employment. The swift action taken by the Bauchi Police Command reflects a commitment to ensuring that only qualified individuals are selected for service, but it also points to the necessity for continuous oversight in preventing similar occurrences in the future.
