A 42-year-old man was seriously injured after falling from his motorcycle on BR-402 in Parnaíba, Piauí, reportedly due to suspected alcohol consumption.
In a serious accident on Friday evening, a 42-year-old motorcyclist was critically injured after losing control of his motorcycle on BR-402 in Parnaíba, Piauí. The incident occurred at around 7 PM, on a stretch of road connecting Parnaíba to Araioses, Maranhão. The preliminary assessment by the Federal Highway Police (PRF) suggests that the motorcyclist may have been under the influence of alcohol when he lost control of the vehicle, leading to the accident.
The investigation revealed that the motorcycle overturned on the roadway, subsequently sliding approximately 18 meters before coming to a halt on the shoulder. The force of the fall caused the motorcyclist to be thrown from the bike, which resulted in part of his body remaining on the road after the impact. Such incidents raise concerns regarding road safety and the dangers of driving under the influence.
The victim was promptly attended to by the Mobile Emergency Service (Samu) and was transported alive to Hospital Estadual Dirceu Arcoverde in Parnaíba for treatment of his severe injuries. This accident underscores the significant risks associated with motorcycle riding, particularly when alcohol consumption is involved, emphasizing the need for safer driving practices on Brazilian roads.
