Tarmo Sulest became the deputy mayor of the Lasnamäe district
Tarmo Sulest has been appointed as the deputy mayor of the Lasnamäe district in Tallinn after a public competition.
Tarmo Sulest has returned to the Tallinn city system as the newly appointed deputy head of the Lasnamäe district, following nearly two years since his dismissal from the city’s municipal department. His appointment comes amidst structural changes in the administration, specifically under the direction of current district leader Miroslav Berezovski who announced the role would be filled after a public competition. Sulest will begin with a four-month probation period and will earn a salary of €4,100 a month, highlighting the potential for significant responsibilities ahead.
Previously, Sulest was let go by former city official Pärtel-Peeter Pere in April 2024, who cited the need to restructure the municipal department into a new position. Pere expressed dissatisfaction with Sulest’s performance, suggesting that a leader is expected to enhance the level of service and quality of management across the district, rather than merely performing administrative tasks. This context indicates that Sulest's return is seen as an opportunity for improvement in local governance and community services in Lasnamäe, which is a significant area within Tallinn.
