Four Palestinians Injured in Settler Attack East of Bethlehem

Four Palestinians were wounded in a settler attack in the village of Kisan near Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank.

On Saturday morning, four Palestinians were injured during an attack by Israeli settlers on the village of Kisan, located east of Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank. The head of the Kisan village council, Moussa Abayat, reported that a group of settlers assaulted the villagers and fired live ammunition at them, resulting in injuries to two of the victims, while others suffered injuries from physical assaults. All injuries were classified as moderate. In addition to the violence, the settlers confiscated about 100 sheep belonging to local resident Attallah Ibrahim Abayat, highlighting the continued spate of attacks targeting citizens and their property in the area.

The Palestinian Red Crescent provided medical assistance to the two individuals who sustained gunshot wounds to their lower limbs—a 52-year-old man and a 39-year-old young man—both of whom were subsequently transported to a hospital. Initially, Israeli forces impeded the ambulance from reaching the injured, complicating their medical care. The recurrent violence faced by the residents of Kisan has become a troubling norm, as they regularly experience assaults on their properties, alongside the establishment of settler outposts on the village's land.

This incident is reflective of a broader pattern of escalating attacks in the region, where the ongoing conflict and tensions surrounding land rights continue to foster hostility between Palestinian residents and settler populations. The implications of such violence raise serious questions about security, human rights, and the effectiveness of interventions to protect vulnerable communities in the West Bank from acts of aggression.
