The annual BCCI Naman Awards ceremony on March 15 will honor several former Indian cricket players, including Rahul Dravid and Roger Binny for lifetime achievement.
The Indian cricket board (BCCI) is set to hold its annual Naman Awards ceremony on March 15 in New Delhi, where accolades will be granted to several distinguished figures in Indian cricket. Notably, former captain Rahul Dravid and former fast bowler Roger Binny will receive the Colonel C.K. Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award. Additionally, Mithali Raj, the former captain of the Indian women's cricket team, will be honored with the BCCI Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing her substantial contributions to the sport.
Roger Binny played a pivotal role in India's 1983 World Cup victory, being the highest wicket-taker for the team in that tournament. He was also part of the 1985 team that won the World Championship of Cricket. Notably, Binny is the first Indian cricketer to have made both batting and bowling debuts in an ODI match. After retiring, he continued his involvement in cricket by serving as a coach and national selector, and he has been appointed as the president of the BCCI from 2022 to 2025.
The BCCI Naman Awards aim to recognize and honor Indian players who have performed exceptionally at both international and domestic levels, as well as celebrate the legends who have elevated the game to new heights. This initiative underscores the board's commitment to acknowledging the contributions of players and enhancing the stature of cricket in India.
