Police rescued a person from a burning detached house in Sotkamo
The police successfully rescued someone from a burning house in Sotkamo during the night.
In the early hours of the night, police in Sotkamo responded to a fire at a detached house on Koivurinteentie. Emergency services were alerted to the fire around 1:35 AM on Saturday, prompting a quick response from 10 rescue units, along with ambulances and the police. Upon their arrival, they found the approximately 100-square-meter house engulfed in flames.
The fire was eventually extinguished, but the building suffered significant damage from smoke and fire, rendering it uninhabitable. The on-duty fire chief from the Kainuu Rescue Department reported that the extent of damage to the structure is still being assessed, particularly regarding injuries to the individual rescued during the incident. Fortunately, there were no fatalities reported from the fire.
This incident highlights the importance of prompt emergency responses in life-threatening situations, as well as the dangers presented by residential fires in Finland. Authorities are expected to conduct an investigation to determine the cause of the fire, which will inform fire safety measures to prevent future incidents of this nature.
