Estonian biathlete Susan Külm is set to compete in the 10 km pursuit race at the Otepää World Cup stage after her impressive 10th place finish in the women's sprint.
The Otepää World Cup stage is currently hosting a women’s 10 km pursuit race, featuring Estonian athlete Susan Külm as the only representative from Estonia. Külm will start in a strong position, taking off in 10th place, following her commendable performance on Friday where she secured a remarkable 10th finish in the women’s sprint, marking her career-best result. She demonstrated superior shooting skills, finishing strong just over a minute behind the winning French athlete Julia Simon.
Külm’s achievement at the Otepää event represents a significant milestone in her career, as she has never previously entered the top ten. The previous best in her career was a 12th place finish at the Ruhpolding individual distance event from the last season. Her excellent performance has raised expectations from her home crowd, who will be cheering her on during the pursuit race, which is anticipated to be highly competitive with strong competitors like Julia Simon and Lisa Vittozzi.
As the pursuit race begins, Julia Simon will lead the pack, initiating the race three seconds ahead of Italian athlete Lisa Vittozzi, followed 23 seconds later by French competitor Lou Jeanmonnot. Külm will commence her race over a minute behind Simon. The community is eager to see if Külm can capitalize on her momentum from the previous day’s race and secure another outstanding finish in front of her home audience.
