Collective Bargaining: Hugo Moyano agreed on a wage increase for truck drivers in line with the government's salary guidelines
Hugo Moyano secured a 10% wage increase for truck drivers, alongside a non-remunerative fixed payment of $53,000, amid rising inflation.
In a move that aligns with the government's salary guidelines but contrasts with the inflation trajectory, Hugo Moyano's Truck Drivers Union has reached an agreement for a 10% wage increase for the period from March to August. This increase is coupled with a fixed, non-remunerative payment of $53,000, aimed at addressing the disparity created by previous agreements amidst ongoing inflation rates.
The agreement details a series of gradual monthly increases from March to August: 2% in March, 1.8% in April, 1.7% in May, 1.6% in June, and 1.5% for both July and August. The decision follows a report from Indec indicating that the inflation rate for February was 2.9%, surpassing expectations, signaling ongoing economic pressure in Argentina.
This wage adjustment is significant as it reflects the tension between labor demands and the government's economic policy, especially in a context where inflation continues to rise. The fixed payment is particularly noteworthy as it indicates the unionβs recognition of the inadequacy of previous agreements, potentially foreshadowing further negotiations in light of the shifting economic landscape.
