DAO has dismissed distributor after election cards were found by the roadside

A resident in Horsens discovered several election cards and letters discarded by the roadside, leading to the dismissal of a distributor by DAO.

In Horsens, Denmark, a resident found five election cards and two letters discarded by the roadside, which were meant to be delivered to mailboxes. These items were improperly placed in a tube designated for newspapers and advertisements, not for mail. The situation was reported by Horsens Folkeblad and has raised concerns regarding mail distribution practices in the area.

In response to the incident, DAO (Distribution A/S) confirmed that they took immediate action by dismissing the distributor involved. Steen Breiner, the communications manager at DAO, stated that the distributor had failed to deliver the election cards and letters correctly, opting instead to use the designated tube for non-mail items. DAO had been aware of potential mishaps in the delivery process due to the distributor's reporting of the delivery locations being suspiciously far from the actual addresses.

This incident highlights the importance of proper mail handling and distribution, especially during significant times such as elections. The misplacement of election-related materials can undermine public trust in the electoral process and may lead to disenfranchisement of voters if such issues persist. DAO's swift action reflects their commitment to maintaining the integrity of their services and ensuring that important communications are delivered appropriately.
