This warning, issued on Friday, January 13, remains in effect until the end of the day. The alert indicates expected rainfall of 30 to 60 mm/h or 50 to 100 mm per day, along with winds reaching 60 to 100 km/h. Residents have been advised to prepare for potential risks such as power outages, falling tree branches, flooding, and electrical discharges.
In light of the approaching severe weather, Inmet has urged the public to avoid taking shelter under trees and parking vehicles close to transmission towers and advertising boards. It also recommends that, if possible, residents disconnect electrical appliances and power from main circuits to prevent damage during storms. Authorities are emphasizing caution and preparedness to ensure public safety as these weather conditions can lead to serious consequences.
The meteorological alert affects a large part of Minas Gerais and extends to nearby regions, including parts of EspΓrito Santo and Rio de Janeiro. In case of emergencies, the public is advised to contact the Civil Defense at 199 or the Fire Department at 193 for assistance during this period of expected severe weather.
