Petrobras raises diesel prices for distributors
Petrobras is set to increase the diesel price for distributors starting this Saturday, with no changes in other fuel prices.
Petrobras has announced a price increase for diesel sold to distributors, effective Saturday, raising the average price to R$ 3.65 per liter, a hike of R$ 0.38 per liter. This adjustment marks the first change in diesel prices since May 2025, caused by the recent spike in global oil prices due to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, where oil prices surged from approximately $60 to over $100 per barrel. Despite the increase, Petrobras noted that diesel prices have fallen by R$ 0.84 per liter overall since December 2022, reflecting a significant decrease in costs adjusted for inflation. To mitigate the impact of this price increase on consumers, Petrobras indicated that the final price at gas stations will be offset by a reduction in taxes and subsidies for producers announced by the federal government. These measures, signed by President Luiz InΓ‘cio Lula da Silva, aim to cushion the impact of rising fuel costs on the Brazilian public, indicating the government's concern over economic repercussions due to heightened oil prices and their effects on inflation and living costs.
