A large reading event featuring various Estonian texts will take place in Tallinn on Mother Language Day, starting at sunrise and continuing until sunset, with participation from numerous prominent figures.
A significant reading event is scheduled to take place on Saturday in front of the presidential chancellery in Kadriorg, Tallinn, marking the fifth occasion of this celebration for Mother Language Day. The event will commence at 6:41 AM with President Alar Karis reading the first text and will continue until sunset at 6:21 PM. All interested attendees are encouraged to join in person or follow the live feed via Facebook throughout the day.
Rasmus Puur, cultural advisor to the president, highlighted that 70 individuals from various fields will participate in the reading, each sharing texts they consider important to showcase. This year’s event coincides with the spring equinox, and the organizers hope to attract a large audience to jointly celebrate both the conclusion of the Year of the Book and Mother Language Day with a diverse selection of meaningful and entertaining thoughts in the Estonian language.
The reading event will involve well-known public figures, educators, writers, actors, musicians, artists, filmmakers, athletes, and many others, providing a rich tapestry of contributions that reflect the vibrancy of the Estonian culture and language.
