In the name of Islam, separated prayer for boys and girls even at school

A Florentine high school has made rooms available for Islamic prayer during Ramadan, separating facilities for boys and girls to adhere to religious practices.

A higher education institution in Florence has recently stirred debate by providing rooms for Islamic prayer to accommodate its Muslim students during Ramadan. New information reveals that there are two separate rooms, one for male students and the other for female students, in accordance with the modesty requirements of Islamic practices. This separation is rooted in the tenets of haya, which demand that men and women pray in distinct areas, with men positioned in the front rows and women in the back, reflecting a long-standing practice in many modern prayer facilities. Notably, some structures go further by isolating women in balcony areas or adjacent rooms, ensuring they can still hear the Imam through audio or visual systems while the men pray.
