Korea Road Corporation Wins Regular League Championship After 8 Seasons with a Strong Triad
The Korea Road Corporation women's volleyball team has won the regular league championship, its first in eight seasons, ensuring a direct ticket to the V-League finals.
The Korea Road Corporation women's volleyball team has made history by clinching the regular league championship for the first time since the 2017-2018 season, marking their fourth overall title. This victory solidifies their dominance in the league with a total of 69 points, stemming from 24 wins and 11 losses. During their decisive match against Heungkuk Life Insurance, they showcased an impressive performance, winning with a set score of 3-0. With this win, they have extended their lead over the second-placed Hyundai Construction and are now set to compete in the finals without pressure, enhancing their confidence for the championship match.
Under the guidance of coach Kim Jong-min, the Road Corporation displayed a commanding presence throughout the season. Their three-pronged attack, featuring veteran outside hitter Kang So-hwi, powerful foreign hitter Leticia Moma Basocho, and Asian quarter Tanacha Sukosot, has been pivotal to their success. Notably, Moma emerged as a key player, ranking second in the league with 924 points. Additionally, their reliable setter Lee Yoon-jung maintained a steady distribution of attacks, contributing to the team's offensive rhythm, while the middle blocker Kim Se-bin provided significant defensive support.
The team's success comes not only through their star players but also through effective teamwork, especially when facing adversities. A critical moment in their season was when star player Bae Yu-na suffered a shoulder injury, allowing rookie Lee Ji-yoon, chosen as the number one draft pick, to step in and effectively fill the gap. As they prepare for their final match against IBK and await the playoff winner for the championship finals, the Road Corporation is well-positioned to not only maintain their winning streak but also aim for the championship once again, building on their previous experience of a 'reverse sweep' victory in the league finals.
